The Vancouver Youth Symphony ensemble (VYSE) is a free community-based program founded by high school students passionate about music education. Our goal is to make orchestral music accessible and fun for elementary school students by combining strings and band instruments into a full symphony orchestra.Participants will learn teamwork, rhythm, and musical expression through guided rehearsals led by high school instructors from Sir Winston Churchill Secondary school. The program promotes creativity, collaboration, and confidence in young musicians in a supportive environment. The instruments that we can teach are Violin, Viola, Cello, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Saxophone, Trombone,Bassoon, trumpet, French hornAll students should have some experiences on their instruments, lowest requirement: able to play the song ?Happy Birthday? and able to read simple music score. Two percussion instruments we will be able to teach: the Chinese drum and the steel tongue drum (enrolling one student each, first come first serve, no experiences needed)Requirement: Bring your own instrument (percussion instruments are given)Recommended: Bring a music stand (shortages of music stand in the centre and will be really helpful!)
